It’s been a long winter spent in my studio, busily creating new artworks.

In Fall 2021, I was super honored to be invited by Debbie Fox, of Fox Fine Jewelry (Ventura, CA), to be their featured artist for a Spring 2022 art exhibit. After a lovely meeting at the back of their shop amidst the beautiful flowers, a name for the exhibit was determined “New Beginnings”. It all seemed perfect for a Spring show.

I was also excited to learn that Chrystel of Green Touch Moss would also be exhibiting her moss art creations in the “New Beginnings” Show.

I was excited and inspired to start painting.

How It Began

I used to work on Main Street at The Nature Conservancy (almost a decade!). Nearby was Fox Fine Jewelry. I had attended many of their art events. Along with being a fine jewelry store, Debbie Fox curates a wonderful art gallery there. I had long dreamed of being a featured artist at Fox Fine Jewelry (or as we call it at home…Fox! 😉 ) When I left The Nature Conservancy almost a decade ago, I set my sights on a level of success; exhibiting at Fox.

Feeling Happy!

Well, here I am almost 10 years into my career as a full-time artist and I have reached the BIG goal I set for myself. Feeling humbled and honored to join the esteemed artists before me who have exhibited at Fox has also ENERGIZED me to stretch my creative muscles even more.

Painting LARGE!

For this new series, FEELING ENERGIZED…I went for LARGE SCALE PAINTINGS!

Since the art gallery at Fox Fine Jewelry is so large I thought it would be a great idea to stretch myself and paint BIG.

My largest pieces in the new show will be framed at 24×36. The paper was 22×30….and so large that I had to start the “splashy” backgrounds outdoors so I didn’t get paint everywhere in my studio.

WORK IN PROGRESS SHOT: painting outside…next to the garden hose…as one does. 😉  Note my “Locals” slippahs from Longs Drugs Lahaina, Maui.

DETAILS matter…

I then needed to add in the Serious tiny details…with a fine brush. So each painting would then be brought INDOORS ….and I would paint kneeling down at my studio table just to get the right angle. A labor of love and I enjoyed every minute.
