Making Friends in All The Right Places

In Behind The Scenes Art Life, Blog Post, Connecting with You

I have been lucky enough to connect with New Friends in all the right places (there’s a song in there, I just know it!).

Specifically, Social Media (Instagram!).

Instagram (IG) creates a small world feeling with so many opportunities to connect with like-minded people.  Sort of a Mutual Admiration Society (I am a member. It’s my made up club, you can join me- we can make t-shirts.)

Since I work alone in my art studio, I rely on my social media accounts to keep me engaged and connected with creative and supportive friends and fans.  I get great feedback from these friends and fans, on my art, on new series I should paint, color suggestions of art and more. It is great making new friends.

One of these friends, Jasmin of Alice In Pink Shoes, has been with me from the beginning of my journey on Instagram. She was one of my first followers on IG and one of my first newsletter subscribers (that made my day!).

We are separated by countries (she is in Germany, I am in the US), but we have so many things in common: Love of Maui, Hawaii, Love of Vibrant colors, a desire to celebrate the small but important rituals of life (great, healthy breakfasts!) and of course…shoes.

For quite some time, I have been wanting to find some way to thank Jasmin for all of her support, encouragement and positive feedback.  Then I got news on her Alice in Pink Shoes IG feed that she had moved into a new home.

New home = housewarming gift= perfect opportunity to send some art

(Not sure if that ☝🏼math equation makes sense, I dropped out of a high school….but that’s a story for another day).

So I painted her a little rose card, wrapped up the Teal Seahorse painting to send and tucked it sweetly into its package for a safe journey full of ALOHA, all the way to Germany.

Imagine my surprise to read such a beautiful blog post about the seahorse’s arrival into Jasmin’s life HERE, Titled “Golden Moments With Mika Harmony”.

Check out her blog post and accompanying photos and you will see that little seahorse arrived safely across all these miles!  Thank you so much for sharing, Jasmin. You made my entire MONTH! 🙂 Danke!

It is such a treat to see my work in your home. You invite me in to grace your walls with color and joy, and I am grateful to you for that.

Art is my language, it is how I communicate with all of you. I offer vibrant, happy art to make you smile and it transcends all language barriers, age differences and distances.

Creating and sharing my art is how I BREATHE and get through another day. I am so honored to be able to share it with you all and make such meaningful friendships across these miles.

Mahalo

(Thank you)

I hope to have many more stories to share with you.

xo, Mika
